Wings On Water

The Scenic Gunnison
Enjoy the early morning sights and sounds while taking a leisurely float on the Gunnison River.  This trip includes a rare chance to watch birds up close while leaving them undisturbed  on the riverside.  Along with waterfowl, this trip is accompanied by some entomology too.  Expect to see bids of all shapes and sizes: Great Blue Herons, Red-tailed Hawks, Canadian Geese, Mallard Ducks, Gunnison Sage Grouse, White-throated Swifts, Black-billed Magpies, Ravens, Gray Jays, Black-capped Chickadees, Yellow-rumped Warblers, Red-winged Blackbirds, Red Crossbills, American Goldfinches, Ospreys, Peregrine Falcons, along with a variety of Woodpeckers and Humming birds, and the occational Bald Eagle with many more not mentioned.

Start your glorious trip at just after dawn to get the most out of your Gunnison Valley experience.  You will begin to float from Garlic Mike’s Restaurant, just north of the City of Gunnison, passing the base of the Palisade cliffs towering above head at over 1000 feet tall.  Continue down around Gunnison to exquisite ranchlands with uninterrupted wildlife around each bend.  Finish the trip on the Mouth of the Gunnison just before flowing into Blue Mesa Reservoir.

Sit back and relax while we serve hot coffee and pastries while your guide rows you down river.

There is no better way to explore the Gunnison Valley than from our beautiful rivers.  This exclusive float trip offers everyone a chance to see parts of the wilderness that cannot be seen any other way.  So pack your binoculars and get on board for a private tour that is bound to be the highlight of your vacation.
