The Gunnison River

This is a great trip for the whole family, any age or ability. Easy class I & II water with a little excitement.We have  2 hour trips, 3 hour trips or an all day trip with a great riverside lunch or a gourmet lunch at Garlic Mikes Italian Restaurant. Everyone in your group will be amazed at the beauty as we paddle through the wonderful heart of the Gunnison valley. You’ll feel you are in another world and gaze skyward as we Float beneath the towering palisades cliffs.The kids will scream with delight as we crash through the big waves at the Gunnison whitewater park and several other small rapids. We often see deer, great blue herons and eagles as we float the lower Gunnison into the national park area.

Taylor River

The Taylor River is a favorite with locals and visitors alike! The Taylor is a fast, steep, technical river through a beautiful alpine canyon. With several different trips available, we’re sure you’ll find a trip you won’t soon forget. All our Taylor river trips meet at our conveniently located office, right on the Taylor River, and a short drive from either Crested Butte or Gunnison.

At our Taylor river office, you can rent a wetsuit as well as view professional photos of your adventure immediately after your trip. You’ll also find a great selection of t-shirts, hats and souvenirs. We also offer rock-climbing instruction and a zipline course right on the site!

LOWER TAYLOR RIVER – 2+ Hours

This trip meets at 8:45 or 12:45 at our Taylor Canyon Office
All rafters must be over 8 years old and weigh more than 60 pounds

This is our in between class II+ trip. More exciting than the Gunnison River, but not quite as demanding as our Upper Taylor trips. This 2 hour trip is perfect for those not quite ready for a full blown whitewater trip. Our Lower Taylor River trip starts out with some fun, exciting rapids, and then settles down for the second half, with time to enjoy the scenery and look for the bighorn sheep that are quite common on this stretch.

UPPER TAYLOR RIVER SHORTY – 2+ Hours

This 2 hour, class III trip is a shorter version of the Taylor River Extender. The action starts right away as we plunge into initiation rapid and the fun and excitement continues all the way to our takeout!

ALL DAY TAYLOR – 5+ hours

There’s action a-plenty, all day long! Starting at 9 a.m. we paddle the mighty upper Taylor and Middle Taylor, stopping to enjoy a hearty riverside lunch buffet prepared by your guide. You can just relax and enjoy the scenery for a short while after lunch, then we push off and the river adventure continues! About 5 hours on the river, this is truly a great all day outing. Custom tailored menus are no problem.

LOTTIS CREEK– 5+ hours

A great run for those who want a full day of fun whitewater. The trip starts high on the Taylor at Lottis Creek, and after a few hours of exciting class III & IV whitewater stops for lunch at the class IV rapid Tod’s Slot, and  finishes with another great stretch of class III whitewater.

- Includes Buffet Riverside Lunch and wetsuit.

Lake Fork of the Gunnison

The Lake Fork of the Gunnison is located near Lake City and offers some of the most beautiful views in the state. This river sees much less traffic than the Gunnison or the Taylor, giving it a much more secluded and natural feel. This river is home to our hardest run, the Lower Lake Fork, as well as a more scenic run in the Upper Box Canyon.

 

 

UPPER BOX CANYON – 3 hours water time

This trip meets at 8:30 and 1:30 at our Gunnison Office (special arrangements can be made for customers staying in Lake City)
All rafters must be over 8 years old

 

 

The Lake Fork box is one of the most beautiful sections of river in Colorado, winding below cliffs and through pine forests. With enough rapids to keep things interesting, but not enough to terrify; this run is perfect for those wanting to raft in the Lake City area who are not up for the class IV Lower Lake Fork.

LOWER LAKE FORK WHITEWATER- 2+ hours water time

All rafters must be over 14 years old and weigh more than 90 pounds
This trip only runs during the early season run-off, ending in mid-July

The Lower Lake Fork is our most exciting run, its two hours of class III and IV whitewater will satisfy even the most adventurous rafter. The Lake Fork winds its way through the picturesque Lake City area giving amazing views between raging rapids. This run is only available during the spring run-off and typically not be available after mid-July.

Inflatable Kayaks (Duckies) and Sit-on-tops

Duckies offer a much more personal way to experience the river, giving you personal control over your own craft. Duckies are easy to learn, fun and safe to use, and offer even more excitement than a raft. Each duckie trip includes an experienced guide to provide instruction and safety.
